Flies

Flies (and mosquitoes) belong to the two-winged insect family. So those insects have only one pair of wings. The hind wings, which have atrophied into club-like vibrators, act as the insect’s balancing organ.

In Finland, the species most harmful to humans and domestic animals belong to the family Muscidae. These include the house fly (Musca domestica) and the stinging fly (Stomoxys calcitrans). Other indoor species include the small house fly (Fannia canicularis), a member of the whirligig flies (Fannidae), the flesh flies (Calliphora), shine flies (Lucilia), attic flies (Pollenia rudis) and powder flies (Sarcophagidae) of the horn flies (Calliphoridae). Among the meal flies (Drosophilidae), the vinegar fly (Drosophila funebris) and the banana fly (Drosophila melanogaster) are also very common indoors.

Lunchtime

For example, if you and your spouse were having dinner at a restaurant and a cockroach walked across your table, you would probably skip dinner and leave immediately. But, if a fly was about to settle on your plate, you’d probably just shoo it away and go on blissfully happily eating. You are making a big mistake here, because the fly carries just as many diseases as the cockroach and should therefore be controlled with just as much vigilance!

After all, flies cannot eat solid food, so to soften it, they vomit on it, stamping their vomit into a runny form, adding the right proportion of bacteria. They then suck it all in again, shedding their faeces as they go. When they have finished eating, it’s your (the customers’) turn.

What can I do by myself?

For preventive pest control of flies and other flying insects in various premises, various types of UV equipment have been designed, for example, of which we rely above all on equipment from PestWest in the UK. Their UV equipment (e.g. Chameleon Vega, YouTube link) is among the best known and most respected in the world.

Both, the selection of the correct UV fly control unit type, as well as its proper installation and maintenance, have a major impact on how efficiently you will be protected against the flying insects.

Therefore, when it comes time for you to purchase UV equipment, you should contact us. We are happy to help you!

Fighting flies

First, the situation is analysed and an individual prevention plan is drawn up for the site. This is followed by an effective and high-quality pesticide treatment.

We use a variety of methods to achieve the best possible results as quickly as possible. We also try to avoid the use of biocides as much as possible.
