Drosophilidae
The Drosophilidae are a diverse Tribe. Flyes are approx 1–6 mm in lenght. Known species approx. 2000. In Finland there are about 30 species.
Fruit flies are small insects that belongs to Drosophilidaes. The most common representative in Finland is fruit fly. There are several species that are common all over the world.
Flies are known to locate themselves around fruits such as bananas, apples and grapes. They eat fruits and other sweet juices and are very likely to be located nearby sugary treats.
They can be nuisance if there are lot of flies indoors, especially in the kitchen. It is importnant to keep kitchen clean and keep all food straged in closed spaces and boxes. It is vital to empty the trash regularly, so there are no food available for the flies.
If you find lots of flies indoor and it is hard to get rid of them by yourself, it might be a good idea to call professionals and ask for help.
